CET Article 4 - 07/8

Just how infuriating are Coventry City? Good enough to beat a multi-million pound Manchester United side (Reserves? Still better than any Championship side, and at home too!), more than a match for West Ham, and able to beat West Brom away from home (Not to mention a decent win away at Stoke!).
On the negative side, they take one point from three recent home matches, including only managing a draw against nine-man Scunthorpe (Worth noting though that they didn't play the entire fixture against nine men!), and they lose away to bottom of the table Norwich.
So once again I'm given the chance to offer my opinion through this column, and am ready to vent my spleen. My mood softens slightly as my beloved Coventry City  take a 2-0 lead away at West Brom, before seemingly blowing their chance of a massive confidence boosting result by giving up their lead .... then go on to record a stunning win. How many re-writes?!
Those points, and a few more over the next couple of fixtures, will hopefully mean that should administration become a reality, we will not drop into the relegation zone. Much as a points deduction will probably spell the end of 'Operation Premiership' for this season (What do you mean, you had forgotten all about that?!), staying out of the bottom three is a necessity to keep our confidence up.
As for filing for administration, like it or not (The latter seems the more likely choice), at least it will hopefully mean this whole boring saga should be sorted one way or the other very soon. The 10-point deduction, and subsequent relegation battle, is not what I had on my list of fortieth birthday presents - but at least if it happens we can stop the rumours, get past the false hope, get rid of a few over-paid, under-performing players, and start again. Every cloud....
Sadly, administration will probably see us saying goodbye to Michael Mifsud (For a ridiculously small fee), and without his goals I can only see struggle ahead. His goals tally for this season is most impressive, while the rest of the team disappoints in front of goal. Our midfield and forwards are missing chance after chance that seem far easier to score. It might be time to introduce a cow's backside and a banjo into the clubs daily training routine.
Our defence also seems incapable of going through 90+ minutes without offering gift after gift for the opposition, and I would be interested to know exactly how many of the goals we have conceded this season haven't been referred to as 'soft' or 'unavoidable'. Two? Maybe three? They seem to be conceding for fun, though I can't hear many Coventry fans laughing - only opposition supporters.
Obviously I hope Ray Ranson's bid for the club succeeds, and I also hope all those people that said they would not return to watch Coventry City until Geoffrey Robinson has left the club keep to their promise. The club badly needs the lift new blood should/will provide, because it seems more and more people are becoming frustrated, and a fair few look like turning their back on the club, just when the club needs them the most. Even I have days when I wonder why I bother....
Sky Sports reported that the day we will be going into administration (If we do) is December 17th, which is also the day it is reported Ipswich's take-over should go through. This does leave me asking the question: what exactly have Ipswich got that we haven't? We have a better ground, a bigger catchment area, and only a slightly bigger debt (A mere £6 million!). So how come they look like being OK, while our future still hangs in the balance?
