The Imps are ignored yet again

The Top 50 football league players was announced by FourFourTwo magazine and not for the first time, the Imps were ignored. After being the most consistant side in the division over the last 4 years, not one single Imps player made it onto the list that is dominated by championship players.

Since Keith Alexander took over, City have failed to have any players featured in any of the official "Team of the Season" for the 4th tier of English football, this despite the Imps being easily the most consistantly winning side in the division in the previous 3 years.

After a recent poll, FourFourTwo released it's Top 50 league players and unsurprisingly, not a single Lincoln player is featured. To try and ease the blow, the magazine offered their opinions on the best players from the clubs not featured. The nomination for Lincoln was surprisingly Simon Yeo, who rejoined the Imps in January. This is a strange choice considering that Yeo has been extremely off par since January and his contribution isn't as major as the magazine would have you believe. The magazine comment's are

"He's only been back at the club 5 minutes, but already Yeo's impact has been massive"

His impact has been so massive, that if you take out the 3 goals (and an own goal that was credited to him) that he's scored, you get pretty much the same level of contribution as Ollie Ryan brings to the game. The choice to have Yeo as the Imps' player of the season has been greeted with a lack of enthusiasm from Imps fans with the majority feeling that the "accolade" should have gone to Jamie McCombe, Colin Cryan or Jamie McCombe. Infact, the vast majority of clubs not featured within the Top 50, weren't happy with the players listed for their club. Even more annoying is that half the players listed in this consolation list, are better than some listed in the Top 50.
