Reaction and pics to the Bristol Rovers game
By Nathan Jackson
September 11 2005
As usual, we bring you our collection of quotes and photographs from the goalless draw away at Bristol Rovers. The draw was City's 5th out of the 7 games so far this season and wasn't helped by the terrible weather. I would love to say it was an exciting game but I think the photos say it all really

Well at least it wasn't a boring 0-0 draw, it was fairly decent without ever really getting out of first gear. It was a game of two halves really, City absolutly dominated the first half and Rovers' single attempt on goal was a pitiful effort. Rovers came out of their shell close to the end but wasted several good oppurtunities to take the lead. Overall a draw was probably a fair result. Also, you've got to love Agogo's acting of being shot and the dive for the "penalty that never was", good old Ian Atkins tactics.

However, draws aren't going to get us anywhere and now, we've drawn 5 of our opening 7 league games and as I as yet unconvinced by City. I can see the potential there as we have a great keeper, defence and midfield but our striking options seem limited. You can't see where goals are going to come from these days and that's a very worrying sign and it's been more than 3 games since we last scored from open play.

I suppose I would have taken a point before hand. City's season could easily be decided by the next 7 days. The Imps face two home games against Wrexham and Peterborough. 6 points would be great, 4 would be good but anything less, wouldn't really help.

"The first half, we didn't create anything at all and Lincoln had a lot of the ball but then again, the only time they created was when we made errors. But Junior Agogo and Ali Gibb were too isolated"

"Overall, it was definatly a game of 2 halves. I didn't get it right in the first half but we rectifed that in the second.

Ian Atkins, Bristol Rovers Information Minister, oh sorry, manager.

(in reference to Asamoah) "Before he scored he never seemed to want to shoot now he seems to want to shoot whenever hes near the goal which must really piss Birch off when he makes a good position." "jamesimp"

"Considering the conditions - what a farce! Will be interesting to see what people thought of the supposed 4-4-2 formation, which actually looked more like 4-5-1 for the majority.

If we win the game in hand we will be around mid-table - and that's where I expected and still expect us to finish come May.

Special mention for Paul Morgan who had Agogo in his pocket. I hope Belfast is watching..." Shane Clarke, editor of the Derranged Ferret

"The first half was probably the worst I have seen all season. At home against a very ordinary Lincoln team who came here with a number of key players missing (which key players would these be????? the only injured player we have hasn't played a single game for us yet) we failed to produce a single effort on goal or even earn a corner. Things did improve after half time and we did have some attacking play to enjoy. Unfortunately will still didn't manage to create any clear openings and over the 90 minutes I think a draw was about right. That is not really good enough when you are playing an average side at home and I think we will need to improve if we are to pick up 3 points on Tuesday. If we fail to beat Oxford I think it could be Atkins last game because even a win would only see us move up to 14th and a defeat would leave us just 3 points off the bottom."
