Reaction and pics to the Rushden game
By Nathan Jackson
August 29 2005
As usual, we do our review of how the action against Rushden and Diamonds went, including pictures from the game. Yet again, the Imps gave away a lead, the third time this has happened in the 3 away games this season. One the plus side, there were numerous good performances including Keates & Cryan

In the space of 7 days, we've seen nearly all the sides to Lincoln City and Rushden was the "sit back on the lead" side to the club. It's no coincedence that the only convincing shot on target we had, went in. We've had 3 away games so far this season and we've lead in all 3 yet we've only taken 2 points from a possible 9.

I must say I was impressed with several Imps players, none more so than Keates who not only scored a wonderful goal, but produced many quality balls into the box and proved a danger all afternoon. Cryan also played quite well and looked very Morgan-esque in his role. However, as soon as Mayo and Morgan came on in the second half, it seemed obvious that we were going to for the 1-0 win with 7 defenders on the pitch, within 2 minutes it was 1-1.

As for Rushden, I thought they were quite impressive and were unlucky to not score more than once and in all honesty, should have won the game. They should easily avoid the drop if they keep playing like that.

"I'm delighted with a point seeing as they were unbeaten this season"

"They've got to put you under pressure and I think they did that. I've got to look at the goal but there's nothing you can it"

"Keate's goal was quality and he brings that extra bit to our side and I'm delighted with his performance."

"Tge kads that come in and play are just the same mentally as the lads that started the game. All credit for their spriit because they got about, me and Neville obviously try and have as much influence as possible but it was down to them really."

Barry Hunter, Rushden manager.

Yet again we go in the lead and instead of killing the game off and come home with all 3 points we give a sloppy goal away yet again and dropped points which is disappointing. All the games so far this season when we gone ahead, we have not got all 3 points. It was a game of two halfs good first half and a poor secound half.We have got to learn a game is 90 minutes and not 45 minutes!"
