Hobbs finally completes his move
By Nathan Jackson
August 19 2005
It's been a very happy 17th birthday for Jack Hobbs as he finally completed his transfer to the European Champions, Liverpool. Hobbs has been all set to sign for the Premiership side for a few months now after his move to Arsenal collapsed and now the youngster has completed his "dream move"

Hobbs was all set to join Arsenal despite being linked with Villa, Bolton, Newcastle and Manchester United but Liverpool snook in after Arsenal couldn't agree a severance package. Hobbs today finally completed the saga as he joined the Reds, ironic considering he's apparantly a Manchester United fan.

Talking to Liverpool's official site, Hobbs said "What a 17th birthday it is for me to sign for Liverpool, and it goes without saying that I will never forget this one! I am absolutely delighted to be at Liverpool, this is a dream come true for me."

Hobbs becomes the first Lincoln player to transfer to a Premiership side since Darren Huckerby left the Imps for Newcastle United in 1996. This fee is undisclosed but it is believed to have a potential value of £750,000 and guarantees the Imps a friendly against Liverpool next season.

"Everyone has been friendly. Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have been great with me. The manager Rafael Benitez has been really nice as well. He's said 'Welcome to Liverpool, good luck and all the best'."

Everyone associated with Lincoln City and especially us at theimps.tk, would like to wish Jack all the best in his career and we hope to see him playing on Match of the Day in a few years.
