Hobbs became the youngest ever player to represent Lincoln City in a League game when he came on as a substitute with only 3 minutes left against Bristol Rovers in January. He was one of several Lincoln City youngsters to get experience in the first team last season along with Ollie Ryan, Lee Frecklington, Leon Mettam and Adam Kerley. However, now Hobbs looks set to move onto new and bigger pastures as he has virtually completed a move to Highbury.
As per league rules, Hobbs can't have a professional contract until his 18th birthday so he can be approached by other clubs and this has proved the case. Hobbs has agreed a developement contract with the Gunners and now the deal rests only if Arsenal accept the compensation package the Imps have asked for.
Hobb's agent, Chris Collymore, has said about the young defender to the Echo, ""It is easy to understand why Jack is regarded as hot property. He is a good size and is English, and we all know how important it is to find talented home-grown players."
Hobbs at been at Lincoln since the age of 9 but an offer from a Premiership club is something that no player at this level of football, and especially at his age, can reject. If the deal is completed, we wish Jack all the best at Arsenal and we hope he has a career similar to former Lincoln City player, Darren Huckerby who has regulary featured for numerous Premiership sides.
