Imps look to raid the Pirates
By Nathan Jackson
September 17 2004
Lincoln City face a tough away trip to promotion contenders, Bristol Rovers. This is view as one of the most difficult trips that can be made over the season and many feel that City would be lucky to come away with a point.

INTRODUCTION

City head to Bristol Rovers on the back of their best run of the season so far, a 2 match unbeaten run, however, Rovers definatly won't be a push over as they only suffered their first defeat of the season last Saturday at the early suprise package, Leyton Orient.

+TEAM NEWS FOR THE IMPS

For once, we have a near fully fit squad with only long term injury hit Chris Cornelly and Michael Blackwood out through injury. Taylor-Fletcher should return after missing last week's derby game against Boston. Richardson has finally recovered from a pre-season knock and should start on the bench.

BRISTOL ROVERS

Ian Atkin's Bristol Rovers team are many people's favourites for the title but suffered their first defeat of the season last week conceeding a 4-2 defeat at Leyton Orient and having not won for 3 games.

Before this little wobble, they had won 4 out of their first 5 games with wins over Mansfield (2-0), Notts County (2-1), Darlington (1-0) and Southend (2-1).

Ian Atkin's has assembled a squad that should, on paper get promotion. This squad includes the Imps summer transfer target, Craig Disley and ex-Imps Lee Thorpe and Junior Agogo.

PREDICTIONS

I am not sure whaet to make of this, Rovers are due for a defeat at home but I have never seen City beat an Ian Atkins side.
