2008/9 Videos
By Nathan Jackson
August 14 2008
The videos returned again in the 2008/9 season, but would they finally capture City win promotion....or even just a cup game? City are away for the first two games of the season and don't suffer good results, but could we improve after that or would it be another frustrating season?

Ground Guide : Rotherham

City's first game of the 2008/9 season is away at Rotherham United. The game is played at the Don Valley Stadium is Sheffield but the distance from the pitch can't hide a poor first half showing from the Imps, but can the Imps make a dominant second half display count?

It turns out to be a frustrating match for the Imps as Rotherham score their with their only realistic chance on goal.

Today's question is - What do you do better than anyone else? - Please note this question has quite a rude response to it from Dan Taylor, those easily offended should cover their ears.

Ground Guide : Derby

The Carling Cup draw saw us paired with Derby County. City make the trip to face a side who haven't won in nearly a year, but can the Imps cause an upset and progress in a cup competition for the first time in three years?

It's a game that sees both sides have numerous chances and the Imps do take a second half lead, but it was Derby who secured a second round place thanks to a Nathan Ellington hatrick.

Today's question is - What is your favourite joke

Ground Guide : Wycombe

City go in search of the first win of the season at Wycombe Wanderers. The Imps don't have a great record at this stadium and one of the sides fails to have a single shot on target, take a wild guess which one.

The video ends with the realisation that Peter Jackson's hype was certainly unjustified. This defeat makes it three defeats to start off the season, one more would have made it the worst start that the Imps had ever made.

Today's question is a riddle - Make 30p out of two coins and one can't be a 20p piece.

Ground Guide : Bury

City travel to Bury FC and hope not to be on the receiving end as the Shakers aim to go top......could the Imps stop them, could a Romanian continue his impact and just what do people believe is the best song ever written? All questions are answered inside.

Infact, Patulea is lucky not to get sent off during the game after several hideous challenges, but at least an Eastern European does get on the scoresheet.

Question of the Day - Best Ever Song.

Ground Guide : Brentford (L1)

City's second away game in as many weeks sees one of the most difficult trips of the season, to Griffin Park - the home of eventual Champions Brentford. The Imps will certainly have to be on their best to get anything.....but one of the teams managed to get an unexpected result....but which was it?

Unlike last season's trip, I have not been away for over 24 hours by the time the match kicks off, meaning no stupid driving back.

Question of the day revolves around my hair.

Ground Guide : Chester This turned out to be the last ever away game City had at Chester City FC. The club went bust just over a year later.

The Imps headed to Chester City FC with the hopes of securing a long overdue win. City are nervously looking over their shoulders and a win would ease the potential relegation worries. It turns out to be a good day out for City but it wasn't a overly good performance.

The question of the day is rather controversial, asking specifically which part of the Bible is the biggest load of rubbish.

Ground Guide : Macclesfield

City's longest unbroken chain of current consecutive season visits to a ground is to Moss Rose, but can City secure a rare victory at the home of the Silkmen, and more importantly, get one over on several former City men who have are there.

However, the game doesn't start well for the Imps and it looks as though our unbeaten run could be about to end.....but will it?

City could have been about 3 or 4 down before Lee Beevers and Lee Frecklington secure the points for the Imps.

 Ground Guide : Bournemouth

City's first chance of revenge against Bournemouth after the 2003 Playoff Final. The Imps won 1-0 on their last visit to this stadium, that despite the hosts dominating. Bournemouth dominate again but would they make that domination count or would the Imps walk away with the three points again?

It also turns out to be a memorable day for Duncan Bayes as well, as he runs around the corner flag for no apparant reason to then run up the pitch and try and score.....failing.

AT THIS TIME NATHAN DIDN'T FILM THE FA CUP GAME AT KETTERING DUE TO LEAVING HIS CAMERA AT HIS PARENT'S HOUSE, HE ALSO HASN'T DONE A VIDEO FOR ALDERSHOT AWAY DUE TO A PERSONAL LOSS. THERE WAS ALSO NO EXETER VIDEO

Ground Guide : Notts

Having lived in Nottingham since July 2008, I was desperate for City to win away at Notts County. Luckily the ground was only 2 miles from my flag, meaning I didn't have to stress about getting to the ground on time.

In this video I reflect on what I missed about Lincoln and what I hated about Nottingham, not a hard task at the time to say the least.

As for the game itself, Notts dominate the match and a mistake costs one of the sides, but which one?

Ground Guide : Rochdale

One of my most frequently visited away grounds finally gives a result which I've never seen played there.

It's a bitterly cold day for football, but there is an entertaining match ahead that is full of twists and turns. Rochdale take an early lead but an own goal and an N'Guessan wonder strike seemingly secure the points for the Imps. That turns out not to be the case at all though.

This game also sees plenty of controversy.

Ground Guide : Gillingham Can I interest anyone in a midweek trip to the other side of the country? No? Well that's what City fans did for one of the most insane celebration scenes seen since the trip to Torquay in August 2006.

The Imps go into half time 1-0 down, but a Geoff Horsfield goal (his only one for the club) and a 95th minute N'Guessan winner sends Imps fans wild.

However, results haven't been good recently and there is much discussion amongst the fans about the future of Peter Jackson.

Ground Guide : Port Vale

A lovely Friday evening in Stoke, what could possibly be any crapper? Set in the miserable area of Burslem, Port Vale's Vale Park was the scene of the latest chapter of Dany N'Guessan's mission to put himself in the shop window.

It's not an excellent game and the fans aren't pleased, plus Adam Mawer has a sob story for everyone.

This video sparked controversy due to my opinions on the area of Burslem.

Ground Guide : Grimsby

If you thought you saw a rant against Barnet last season, you've seen nothing yet. Without doubt the worst performance that City have put in within the last few years.

There are infact very few, if any, positives to come out of the day and it brings up a lot of questions about Peter Jackson's tenure at Sincil Bank.

Despite Lincoln drawing level midway through the second half, Grimsby still go on to give City a right thumping. This was effectively the beginning of the end for Peter Jackson.

Ground Guide : Barnet

Another day, another away game, another shit performance. It may not have been as bad as last season's 5-2 defeat, but City rarely show signs of life in this defeat at Barnet, eventually losing 3-2.

It's now getting to the point where I'm really not that bothered about going to the games as the season is almost officially over, only a few more defeats will actually confirm that Peter Jackson failed to live up to his hype.

Some fans strangely still thought we could achieve promotion at this point.

Ground Guide : Chesterfield

A cold and wet Tuesday night trip to Saltergate isn't quite what the doctor ordered. However City aren't thrashed 4-1 like last season, but with another poor performance, can the Imps come from a goal down (surprisingly from Jack Lester) to gain something against the Spirites?

You also see a brilliant piece of Adam Mawer logic, stating that if it's raining then we were going to lose, but if it was nice then we would have won.

Ground Guide : Bradford

Things don't even go close to how I planned. With controversy revolving around Bradford stewards and the season system, they also deny me filming the usual videos.

All there is in this video is just people moaning about the seating and a few match previews, but that's about it really.

All of this for a game that eventually finished 1-1.

Ground Guide : Shrewsbury

The last away game of the season and City have nothing to play for, except the chance to ruin Shrewsbury's chances of the Playoffs. Having won in five consecutive matches at Shrewsbury, the Imps know that another win would realistically end Shrewsbury's chances at a top seven finish.

The Imps fail to score, but what about Shrewsbury?
