The Imps made several chances at the beginning of the second half, replacing the entire team from the first half. Gary King scored almost immediately, hitting the bar from just outside the area. Pembleton had a shot easily saved with two minutes gone but it was a positive start to the half from City.
A Stefan Oakes corner saw a foul on Pembleton on the edge of the area. Oakes stepped up but it hit the wall. However, it wasn't long before it was 3-0, Brown sending in a cross and Patulea headed into the net. This was quickly becoming the biggest win we've had against United for a while, another goal would break the previous best of 3-0 back in 2004/5.
A corner within 2 minutes gave the Imps a chance to make it four, but Oakes hit it straight at a defender and United launched a failed counter attack from this. A Patulea goalbound shot deflected off of Ben Wright. Yet another City corner was crossed in by Oakes saw Warlow smash the ball from 20 yards before smashing Patulea in the face. Wright shot over from 12 yards minutes later.
City were dominating now and Ben Wright hit the post from a Warlow cross. A foul on Pembleton gained City a free kick 25 yards out. Warlow took the set-piece and his thunderbolt was well saved by the Lincoln United goalkeeper. The resulting corner went out for a goalkick.
It wasn't long before it was 4-0, Warlow again cross the ball in and Patulea heading in from close range. It was turning out to be a decent performance from the Romanian. It was already turning into a thumping when Patulea made it 5-0, latching on to Oakes' ball before slotting into an empty net.
Several wasted chances later and Grant Brown made a rare appearance for the Imps, his first since 2002. Gary King made it 6 when he headed home an Oakes corner and the Imps went on to win by 6-0, the biggest friendly win since a 7-0 effort over Boston Town in 2005.
