Reaction to Oliver Ryan's 2007/8
By Nathan Jackson May 21 2008
Oliver Ryan was released by City during the season after going yet another season without scoring a goal. The release came as no real surprise after he fell ever further down the pecking order after a red card at Wycombe, although at the time it appeared he would get another chance under Jackson.

Oliver Ryan's released was probably a surprise to no-one, let alone Oliver himself. The young striker had numerous chances to impress in recent years and has always left the feeling of disappointment in his wake. Missed open goals, hitting shots straight at goalkeepers from a yard and not really doing a lot was the story of Ryan's career at Sincil Bank.

It appeared as though Jackson was interested in Oliver Ryan getting an extended run in the first team. However, a sending off at Wycombe Wanderers ended his City career and he barely got another look in, that despite Jackson saying at the time that he would get his chance.

Overall, I can't say I'm disappointed that Oliver Ryan left. He was a hard worker on the pitch but generally didn't do a lot and we can't afford players like that anymore.
