Aston Villa are coming
By Nathan Jackson May 20 2008
Lincoln City will host a friendly against a Premiership side for the first time since the summer of 2003 when Aston Villa pay Sincil Bank a visit. Martin O'Neill's men will visit Sincil Bank in mid-July as they prepare for a shot at European Football. I bet Paul Green will be pleased.

City's last pre-season friendly was against Manchester City back in 2003. Paul Mayo and Matt Bloomer gave the Imps an early 2-0 lead, but Manchester City pulled it back to 2-2 before the end. Since then City have hosted plenty of Championship sides, but not a Premiership team. Before anyone says it, the Liverpool friendly in 2006 wasn't in the pre-season.

The friendly between the two will be on July 15th with a 7:45pm kick off.

PRE-SEASON SO FAR

15th July - Aston Villa (Home)

18th July - Sleaford Town (Away)

20th July - Community Day - Lincoln United (Home)

26th July - Derby County (Home)
