Exeter regain place in Football League
By Nathan Jackson May 18 2008
Lincoln City will face yet another long trip next season after Exeter City were promoted via the Blue Square Premier Playoffs. The victory comes just weeks after the 5th anniversary of them being relegated and the Imps will travel to St James' Park yet again next season.

Rob Edwards scored the only goal of the game in the first half when he headed a Dean Moxey cross in. That goal secured promotion for an Exeter side who barely made it into the Playoffs in the first place.

The victory comes almost 5 years to the day after they were relegated on the final day of the 2002/3 season, that despite gaining a victory over Southend that day. City will certainly be hoping for a better result in next season's trip to St James' Park after City lost 2-0 there in March 2003.

The full League 2 line up for next season is almost complete with 23 of the 24 teams being confirmed already. The final place will belong to the losers of the League 2 Playoff Final.

good news for me as it means i only have to travel one hour to an away game.(live in north devon)

i saw exeter play against aldershot in the game that gave the shots the final point that they needed to get back into the league and exeter impressed me more than aldershot.-a better balanced passing side.

Bad news for us. Cambridge would have brought a few away fans to the Bank. Exeter won't.
But after all Grecians fans have been through with those crooks taking them over , and nearly going out of business,it must be good for them to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
Proof,as if we needed it, that the community club thing works. And the TV money from that FA cup run didn't do any harm either.

I am pleased about this as it throws up a possible weekend trip to Torquay.Exeter is not far by train.A few of us have done this before.

Don't think I'll go to the away game. Would have gone to Cambridge because a) its not that far away and b) its a nice place.

Exeter is a nice place, too. Good city centre and the cathedral is OK( not as good as ours).Plenty of good pubs in and around. In fact its better than Torquay ! Nice place for a weekend stopover.
