Boulding distances himself from Bank move
By Nathan Jackson May 7 2008
Michael Boulding has moved to distance himself from a move to Lincoln City, saying that he would prefer a move higher up the Leagues as he believes he is good enough for the Championship. It is a huge blow for the Imps as the club were keen to bring Boulding in, but now it appears that we might have to look elsewhere.

Boulding has been linked with a move to Sincil Bank following several members of the club going to see him play for Mansfield against Wrexham in April. It has been rumoured on message boards that he had agreed to come to Sincil Bank if Mansfield were relegated, unfortunately it appears there was no foundation to these rumours.

Boulding was quoted in the media as saying "Personally I want to do as well as I can for myself and it is a big drop down. To play in the non-league would be a big blow" Boulding told the Grimsby Telegraph. I think I could play a lot higher than I have been doing this season. I have played at Championship level before and I think I am a better player now than I was then."

It is now unlikely that he will be wearing the red and white of Lincoln City next season and our search continues for new players.

Classic ploy for a player looking for a better deal from us.

He distances himself from us....we offer more.

Don't read to much into this. Also in the interview he says there is a chance he will stay at Mansfield. I would be surprised if he came to us but it does seem in talk around here that we are in the frame.

Not a problem in my opinion. I have great faith in Ben Wright to get 20 goals next season, Jamie Forrester could also chip in with 15+ goals and we also have Louis Dodds (if he signs permanently), Gary King, Dany N'Guessan and Lennel John-Lewis who can all play up front. I'd personally like to see us sign Neil Harvey from Retford, he would be a good asset to the squad. A 31 year old striker who would be on big wages?? No thanks. Commanding centre-back in the Kevin Austin/Dean Walling mode is our priority for me.

If Boulding doesn't want to come then I'd sign Dodds. We'd have a good enough strikeforce IMO with Forrester, Wright, Dodds, King and assuming we sign Mullarkey or Harvey

Anyone else heard that Bouldings family are minted? Not sure if its 100% but money may not be the issue, just need to sell the club to him make him realise we want to be competing for promotion and all that

It is true. They run their own business. Money shouldn't be an issue but you never know.

I've never heard anything so ridiculous in my life! Just because his family are rich, it doesn't mean that wages won't be a problem. People with money are probably greedier than someone without, and since when has a footballer said money isn't a problem. I would have thought that Lampard's family isn't short of cash, and he earns over £100,000 a week!

This reminds me very much of Drewe Boughton on leaving Rushden. He claimed he wanted league one or above, but it seems no one in those leagues fancied relegation enough to take him [:wor kid:]

"a huge blow" - bit of 'journalistic' licence there I think...
