It is the second season in a row that the closest team to Lincoln City in League 2 have been relegated. 12 months ago it was Boston United and now the Stags are going to be playing non-league football next season.
The Stags have been in or around the drop zone all season. Their highest position of the season was 11th place after a first day draw. Since then their highest position in the table was 18th, one of just 10 weeks of the season that they didn't spend as one of the bottom two.
One of the main reasons for their downfall will more than likely be that Boulding scored 25 goals but no other player got past the 4 goal mark. Boulding is now almost certainly set to leave Field Mill, with Lincoln City one of many teams currently tracking him. There have been rumours that he and Matt Hamshaw agreed to come if Mansfield went down.
Mansfield will now play their final League game on Saturday as they travel to Dagenham and Redbridge.

I really don't think enough people involved did enough. Yes they will blame Haslem and what he is doing is unacceptable. However they have used him as an excuse when in reality they haven't been good enough on the pitch. They spent alot of money on Hamshaw, a player who must now be looking at where Stockport are. Perhaps its a lesson we should look at before we start jumping in there getting their players. Yes the ability is there but what about the attitude when the going gets tough.
