Ollie Ryan's last chance came and went
By Nathan Jackson March 20 2008
Ollie Ryan has left Lincoln City by mutual consent just weeks after signing a new deal to keep him at Sincil Bank until the end of the current season. It was yet another "last chance" for Ollie Ryan as he kept failing to impress in his numerous first team appearances. It is now expected that Ryan will sign for his hometown club, Boston United.

Ollie joined the Imps Youth System back in the early part of the century and was prolific at youth and reserve levels. He was finally given a chance in the 2005/6 season when he was given his first run of results following supporter pressure to give him a chance. He was gifted many, many chances to score his first goal for the first team but constantly wasted them.

An example was his first start of that season against Cheltenham. Ryan missed an open goal just minutes before Kayodi Odejayi scored a winner with Cheltenham's first chance of the game.

It continued in that vain. Everytime he missed an open goal, the opposition went down the other end and scored and it didn't matter who the manager was, what the tactics were and how easy the chances, he just kept missing.

His effort couldn't be questioned during his time in the first team but unfortunately he just wasn't good enough for first team football at Lincoln City Football Club.

We would like to wish Ollie all the best for the future.
