Defender : Adie Moses
By Nathan Jackson
February 26 2008
Experienced Adie Moses joined the Imps in 2006 just 10 months after he was part of a Crewe side that lost 5-1 at Sincil Bank. The defender has had a long career and has also played for Huddersfield Town before joining the Imps. However, his time with the Imps has been plagued by injuries, unfortunate considering at one point he was statistically proved to be our best player.

 Signed from : Crewe Alexandra

Debut Game : Lincoln City 1 Notts County 1 : 5th August 2006

Experienced defender Moses became the first signing of the new Deehan/Schofield management team and it was something of a coup for the Imps to sign a player who’d never played at this level before and had previously been playing in the Premiership with Barnsley.

Moses had a mixed first season at Sincil Bank. He was a regular through-out the first part of the 2006/7 season, including scoring on his debut against Notts County, but soon injury put him on the sidelines and the John's decided to keep Nat Brown in the starting line-up instead of him, a move that was a contributing factor to City now gaining promotion that season.

There were strong rumours that Moses had quit the Imps after becoming frustrated at being second choice Brown, but those rumours were quashed when he regained his place in the starting line-up at the beginning of the 2007/8 season. He soon lost that place again though as injuries came into the equation again.

His career started at Barnsley, the defender helped the Tykes to promotion to the Premiership in the 1996/7 season but it turned out to be a disappointing season as Barnsley joined an extremely small group of teams that have spent just a single season in the Premiership, as they were relegated straight back to the old Division 1. Barnsley failed to threaten for promotion again and in the middle of the 2000/1, Huddersfield Town paid the Tykes £225,000 to help them avoid relegation from Division 1.

Huddersfield failed in their bid to avoid the drop and started the 2001/2 season in Division 2. They had a good season and made the playoffs but couldn’t avoid defeat in the semi-finals to Brentford on aggregate. Huddersfield’s playoff hangover was extreme as they were relegated by quite some way and they went into what was then Division 3.

However, Moses didn’t join them as he joined Crewe who had been promoted from Division 2 to Division 1. His first season with them was mixed as they were one of the teams cursed with midtable mediocrity. However, the next season and Crewe escaped relegation with a total fluke. After selling Dean Ashton in December, Crewe didn’t win again for ages and fell from a midtable position to the relegation zone but a last day victory at home to Coventry, the first since Ashton’s departure, saved them from relegation.

They started the 2005/6 season in similar fashion and visited Sincil Bank in the Carling Cup First Round and Moses was part of a defence that shifted 5 goals that night as the Imps easily progressed. It would be a long hard season for the Alex as they suffered relegation to League 1, just 3 seasons after being promoted to that level.

At the end of the 2005/6 season Moses joined the Imps from Crewe.
