Defender : Nat Brown
By Nathan Jackson February 26 2008
Nat Brown is a defender for Lincoln City. He signed from Huddersfield Town in 2005 as he rejected a move to Shrewsbury Town to join the Imps. Nat is infamous for constantly wearing a white bandage around his wrist and has certainly divided opinion amongst the Imps fans during his time at Sincil Bank, although they can't argue that he scores great goals every now and then.

Signed from : Huddersfield Town

Debut Game : Lincoln City 1 Northampton Town 1 : 6th August 2005

Nat Brown was a surprise signing from Huddersfield Town during the summer of 2005, especially as he was set to join Shrewsbury Town. Brown quickly settled into the squad and for a player that never scored in over 3 years at Huddersfield, he scored twice in his first three games for the Imps including a fantastic volley at Notts County and although the Imps lost that game, it was a sign of things to come. Nat Brown became a semi-regular scorer for the Imps and at times, threatened to become the top scorer at the club but he could never quite catch up to Gary Birch or eventual top goalscorer, Marvin Robinson.

At the beginning of December 2005, City faced a home game against Macclesfield Town and going into the final 10 minutes, it was 1-1 and looked to be staying that way for the Imps until Scott Kerr passed the ball to Brown who was roughly 35 yards out. He composed himself and sent a dipping and curling shot over the Macclesfield goalkeeper and sailing into the top corner of the net for one of the best goals in recent times at Sincil Bank and although Macclesfield equalised less than two minutes later, it was still a great moment for Brown.

After that however, Brown’s goals quickly dried up and his only other net-bulger that season came in an away trip when he scored the 3rd in City’s fantastic comeback that had seen the Imps 2-0 down after just over an hour of play. He scored just once during the 2006/7 season and has yet to find the net during the 2007/8 season.

During his City career he's certainly divided opinion. Some think he's a great defender but others think that his hoofing was one of the main reasons for City's form suddenly collapsing during the 2007/8 season. Regardless of your opinion, it seems likely Nat Brown will be at Sincil Bank for a long time to come.
