Where do you think you're going? : Mansfield
By Nathan Jackson
June 3 2007
Our most regular local derby in recent times continues into the 2007/8 season as a reduced number of tickets will be allocated to Lincoln City fans at Mansfield Town. City haven't lost there since the 2001/2 season but that's the only defeat there so far this century and City have scored some right cracking goals there in recent seasons.

mansfieldtown0708City could be set for an unpredictable trip to Mansfield Town in the coming season. The away allocation is about to be seriously reduced after the new capacity of Field Mill is less than 5,000 after the worst stewards in the land finally got punished as their club have half to halve their capacity.

Mansfield has been one of City's more regular local derbies in recent history, with only the 1998/9 and 2002/3 seasons not seeing the sides play each other within recent times.

A trip to Mansfield is often a decent one although it can get very awkward. There are plenty of pubs around the area with one just a short 2 minute walk down the hill and that is called "The Early Doors" but they have a habit of letting City fans in there and then to tell only then tell them that they leave until 5 minutes before kick off.

To get from Mansfield to Lincoln Leave the M1 at Junction 29, take A617 and then after 6 miles turn right into Rosemary Street. Follow road for 1 mile and turn right into Quarry Lane. There is plenty of parking in the many nearby shopping estates, including one quite literally just behind the away end. However, parking here comes with a risk of getting a ticket, there is parking at the ground for £2.

The trains are quite regular but plus note that if we have them for a night match then the last train out of Mansfield will leave before the game has finished. Trains are mixed journies, either going to Nottingham and then up to Mansfield or to Worksop and then south to Mansfield.

Due to the overloading of trains, I'll just give you the 6 ones that allow you to have a decent sleep and still get to the ground with plenty of time to spare.

For all the ones leaving at 27 past the hour, you head to Worksop via the Northern Service to Adwick. From there get on the train that heads to Nottingham.

The 9:27 sees you getting the Northern Rail service that heads to Adwick For all the other ones, head to Nottingham and then up to Mansfield from there

To get to the ground from the station is very easy. Just cross the bridge that you exit the train station from and you're practically you're outside the away end.
