Jean-Alain Boumsong, the Liverpool target, has signed a contract with Rangers and will not be coming to Anfield.

The player has blamed Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier for not getting back to him in time, for him moving to Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers instead of Anfield club Liverpool, who he would have liked to have moved to.

"At the end of last season, Liverpool and Auxerre reached an agreement. This agreement, Gerard Houllier told me, had to be submitted to the Liverpool board. I awaited confirmation, but nothing came. After waiting until November I understood Houllier did not want me," he told his personal website.

Weather Houllier wanted him or not I cannot say, but this was not a very professional thing for a manager of such an illustrious club to do, and it could stop players wanting to come to Anfield in the future and could destroy the clean image of the club.
