Harriers 1 (Hatswell) Cambridge 1 (Mbome). HT 0-0 a brief report
Harriers will feel hard done by today after enjoying the better of proceedings against 2nd from bottom Cambridge United. Harriers boss Jan Molby, still without Icy Christie started with Youssou Diop up front with Ian Foster and Simon Brown in support. Lee Jenkins continued in midfield alongside Dean Keates and Richie Appleby. Chris Mc Hale deputised for the suspended Sall and Shaun Cooper kept his place at right back. Harriers had the better of the 1st half going close through the wee men of Ian Foster and Dean Keates.
Harriers continued to hold the slight upper hand in the 2nd half with Lee Jenkins goling close with a thunderous effort from the edge of the penalty area. Harriers boss Molby sent on Jesper Christiansen for Richie Appleby and it wasnt long before Harriers had a precious lead. Skipper Wayne Hatswell heading home in a crowded area from a corner.
It looked like that would be that, Harriers threatened on the break whilst Cambridge played kick and hope and excluding the odd head tennis incident, didnt threaten much. Then right at the death, the U's claimed a rather fortunate late equaliser with Mbome rifleing home from the edge of the area. Both teams seemed to want to claim all 3 points in stoppage time, with Harriers forcing the U's keeper into a comfortable save but neither side could claim a winner.
So that leaves Kidder still bottom, with Cambridge with them on 9 points. A bit better today than some games this term with no one having a bad game. On the positive side, loanee full back Shaun Cooper did well, as did rookie defender Chris Mc Hale. We still need to threaten team more in an attacking sense but at least we did create some chances today. Looking at todays game one could understand why both teams are where they are in the table. In fact, based on today, I would say the U's are in as much trouble as ourselves and certainly got out of jail with that late leveller.
