Yes, the place I would like to kick yesterdays referee is where Kidderminster Harriers are at the moment in the entire football league. The fat lady hasnt even arrived at the theatre yet, so no panic just yet.

Bottom

So Kidderminster Harriers are now officially the strongest team in the entire football league, with the old saying that we are holding the rest up. Harriers find themselves in this predicament following a 3-0 defeat to Swansea City. Yet despite this seemingly heavy defeat, the nasty man in black still had a part to play. Of course, the inept cannot be blamed for the overall defeat, but annoying just the same.

Quite how the ref can justify not halting play when there is a head injury is beyond belief. Hopefully something can be done, after all, it could have resulted in a serious injury for John Danby, with the delay for treatment. In rugby, some refs have been prosecuted for allowing scrums to collapse with the result of serious injury to the player. The FA could also look at the elbowing incident. After all, Robbie Savage of Birmingham is now serving a 3 game ban for such an incident.

Anyway, that’s beside the point, even if any action is taken (mostly against the ref I hope!) it cant bring back those lost points. Harriers now need to knuckle down and hopefully some of the injured players can return asap. One such player, Icy Christie (that’s what I’m calling him, mainly for spelling purposes!) was on the bench yesterday. With so many new players, it will take them time to gel. In fact, especially with the foreign players, it will probably take them even longer. I recall reading recently that Chelsea’s foreign legion of stars are expected to have a bedding in period of around 6 months. And that’s to play in the Premiership, definitely more technical than league 2 but league 2 is certainly more a theatre of war division.

So all we can do is hope for the best. Hope that the players can start to gel and improve and also hope the walking wounded are soon walking and running and performing. Lets hope Icy is the player who can knock the goals in. Then if he does, then more opportunity will be given to those around him, with opposition defenders concentrating on Icy allowing others to score. Its still only September and no one has been relegated this early.

So next up its Macclesfield, lets hope for a decent ref (?? Is there one??), an improved display and three points.
