Harriers 1 Orient 2 (HT 0-1) The Briefest of brief reports
Harriers boss Jan Molby made a few changes. In came new loan man Kelvin Langmead, who has joined for a month from Preston. Micky Mellon was suspended and Dean Keates injured so Richie Appleby came into midfield along with Lee Jenkins whose slot a right back was taken by Chris Mc Hale. Another new loan signing, Steve Mc Mahon, who joined from Blackpool, sat on the bench, with Dean Keates out injured.
It basically ended up the same as usual with Harriers really failing to trouble the O's, Freddy Advice having one shot which was easily saved. Orient went in front through Alexander, who fired in from close range. Langmead, like Christiansen, who he replaced, ploughed a loan furrow up front with little joy. Perhaps it will be realised that chances must be provided for forwards to score.
Harriers did little again in the 2nd half. Young Steve Mc Mahon, the son of the Liverpool legend, did come on at 1/2 time for Advice. The youngster certainly put himself about a bit and picked up a booking (dad would be proud!). Harriers fell further behind when MC Hale conceded a penalty, which Lockwood tucked away. There looked no way back now for Harriers although sub Ian Foster did grab a late conselation, lobbing the ball home from the edge of the area.
There was to be no amazing escape and the scored remained the same, if Harriers had have pulled anything out of the fire, it would have been very cruel on Orient.
