1st defeat
By KJ
August 22 2004
It was a day of firsts at Field Mill For Kidderminster Harriers yesterday as they crashed to defeat thanks to former Kidder loanee Colin Larkin.

A day of 1sts

Stuart Roberts, playing his 1st Kidder game put Harriers ahead in the 1st minute. It was dream start for the former Wycombe and Swansea man, who signed non contract forms on Friday. Harriers lead did not last too long though. The Stags equalised through Colin Larkin who cooly slotted past Danby in the Harriers goal. This was the 1st goal Harriers had conceded in 4 games and the 1st goal conceded this season. The score remained level at the interval.

Mansfield grabbed a 2nd early in the 2nd half and it was Larkin again, this time with an overhead effort. From this there was no way back for Harriers. Mansfield had the better of things and Harriers were indebted again to John Danby in goal and also the post, which denied Larkin his hat trick.

So, in the 1st theme again unfortunately, Harriers slipped to their 1st defeat of the season. Not a bad start really and yesterday saw the squad depleted again. Missing were Simon Brown(suspended) and the injured Chris Mc Hale and Youssou Diop along with the more long term injured Rueben Hazell, Abdou Sall and Iyseden Christie. Hopefully these could make a difference.

Next up its Cardiff at home on Tuesday night in the Carling Cup. Kick off at 7.45pm as we try and reach round 2 for the first time, that would be a good 1st .
