Diamonds draw & news

Kidderminster Harriers opened their League Two campaign with a draw at Rushden yesterday. As Viveash made his 2nd Kidder debut, Jan finally got his man up front

So a reasonable start to the campaign as the new look Kidder held Rushden & Diamonds to a goalless draw at Nene Park. With both sides having their chances, a draw was seen as a fair result. HArriers boss Jan Molby gave  debuts in the starting line up to Mellon, Freddy Advice, and Diop, with Simon Russell coming on in the 2nd half. The gate yesterday was quite low, with Rushden normally getting nearer 4000 in seasons past. THe crowd of 2699 also included 500+ from Kidder, which may indicate that the glory chasers are no more at Nene Park.

One new signing who was unable to play yesterday was Iysseden Christie, who signed a 2 year contract on Friday. The former Mansfield man will be out until September with a foot injury. Hopefully he will give us the goal threat we desperately need.

Next up for Harriers, its another one of the relegated sides as Notts County visit Aggboro this Tuesday (10th August). With increased season ticket sales this year, plus it hopefully being a pleasant evening, the gate should easily exceed 3000. Given the fact that County arent far away and I would imagine have a good travelling following, their contigent could push up the gate further. Another plus point is the fact that County have never visited Aggboro, thus giving their fans a new ground to see. Kick off is at 7.45pm as usual.
