Manchester United's hotly-anticipated return to the Champions League resulted in a very comfortable 3-0 victory over Swiss outfit Basel.
Europa League winners United eased to a comfortable win at Old Trafford, thanks to goals from Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.
The Red Devils were making their first appearance in the competition since December 2015, when a 3-2 defeat at Wolfsburg led to elimination from Group B.
United, however, are widely expected to comfortably qualify from Group A, with CSKA Moscow and Benfica in sights after a comfortable win against Basel.
Substitute Fellaini broke the deadlock with a header, before Lukaku fired home the second to continue his prolific start to life at Old Trafford.
Rashford combined with Fellaini to extend United's lead, on a night which saw Jose Mourinho's charges return to the European elite, and perform as if they'd never been away.
