Sir Alex: United were the better side

Sir Alex Ferguson
By Chris,
January 22 2012
Sir Alex Ferguson feels United were eventually the "better side" after watching his side claim a hugely important 2-1 win at Arsenal on Sunday. Goals from Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck ensured the Red Devils closed the gap on league leaders Manchester City back to three points.

The United boss reserved particular praise for United’s back four as the Red Devils claimed a crucial win.

"I felt eventually we were the better side," said the Scotsman.

"Credit to the players at the back who did a great job.

"We rode our luck a bit but on the counter attack I thought we could have scored more goals."

Ferguson was full of praise for United winger Valencia, who broke the deadlock before half-time and played a crucial role in Welbeck’s winner.

He added: "In the last few weeks he's really come into his game, he's got over the bad injury he had last season and he's getting better all the time."

If only we had a confident and consistent keeper.

It is worrying the position - and reminds me of the time we sent for Les Sealey all those years ago.

Whats happend to your board boys its quieter than ours? As for the game made up of course tbh we were lucky .Neither team played well but united had loads of the ball without creating much .Draw was written all over it but there you go ,always look on the brightside boyswinking smiley

yeh, board is quiet TBH. I didn't think any team stood out as winners in l'pool match. Draw would have been fair even though we had more possession. l'pool defence was v.good. May have been diff if we had some injuries back but whatever. I'd prefer it happen in the cup rather than the league.

Liverpool can raise their game against the big boys and proved this by knocking us and city out of the two cups in a week, But the scousers do struggle at times against the lesser teams eg Bolton but Wolves looked to have had a hammering.

Thanks to Darren Gibson the title race is back on again!!

We are nowhere near our best which shows how poor the premier league is this season.

And as for Liverpool - their best player is Craig Bellamy ffs!

Have a good weekend everyone.

Another master stroke by SAF. Selling players to clubs who are about to play city.
