Manchester United pre-season preparations continue with a 1-0 win over the Philadelphia Union. Gabriel Obertan grabbed the goal on a sweltering evening at the Lincoln Field.
Though this was only a friendly, Obertan's strike will have given the French winger a confidence boost as he aims to break into first-team contention next season.

He broke the deadlock with 76 minutes on the clock after Danny Welbeck provided the assist.Sporting their slick new jerseys, United were handed a tough test by the Union but always looked more likely to hit the target.

Goalkeeper Brad Knighton denied Welbeck from close-range in the first-half, but his charge down the right wing and fine pass to Obertan made the difference as the game approached the closing stages.

The 44,213 in attendance at the home of the Philadelphia Eagles will not have been disappointed with this friendly contest.United fielded 17 players with former Fulham man Chris Smalling amongst the names that came off the bench.

Full Time – Philadelphia Union 0-1 Manchester United
Attendance – 44,213
