Manchester United youngster Matthew James has joined neighbours Preston on a season-long loan. The 18-year-old returns to Deepdale after making 18 appearances for PNE last season.

Bacup-born James impressed at Preston last season and bagged two goals for the Championship club.

The youngster said he would try and "score more goals" next season as he aims to help Preston mount a challenge for promotion.

The highly-rated teenager midfielder has been praised by United's coaching staff for the versatility he brings to the club's youth ranks.
