Hughton says Barcodes will have no fear
By Chris,
June 17 2010
Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton insists his side will have no fear as they travel to Old Trafford for the opening game of the Premier League season. The newly-promoted Magpies stormed the Championship title last season; winning promotion alongside West Bromwich Albion and Blackpool.
Having steered Newcastle to the Football League Championship crown last season, Hughton holds no fear as his Barcodes side prepare to open the Premier League season with a daunting trip to Old Trafford.

Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, he said: “We will not be going anywhere next season with an inferiority complex - you just can’t afford to.”

"We will believe we can go anywhere and get points next season, and Old Trafford will be no different. We have to take confidence from the fact we went there two seasons ago and got a good point in that game”.

Would you be happy for people to call Manchester United - Manure etc - so why lower the already weak post by adding Barcodes ! I am 100% sure houghton didnt say that.

No I am not a Newcastle supporter, but if your going to post items like this have respect for the other teams.

Thanks to john for his comment, we know you wont be too concerned that we dont like 'barcodes' but john hit the nail on the head when he said it is about respect. Good luck to Man Utd, i hope you can give Sir Alex another title before he retires, i just hope you get off to a bad start winking smiley

Opening game of the season looks like a real confidence boost for us in fairness.

Should be a pretty casual hammering of the barcodes to send them thumping back down to earth that they still have a Championship side, barking like big dogs but peeing like puppies.

It will be a "warm welcome" back to the big time i'm sure smiling smiley

Not sure about the 'hammering' thing.Hope you are right(of coourse)but historically United don't 'hammer'any side on the opening day.Just go back to Keegan's team of a short while back.1-1.Houghton's lot could do the same.Interesting to hear people think that Newcastle are packed with 'Championship standard players.'Mmmm.I actually think that some of 'em are at least as good (maybe better ?)than the dross at the lower end of the Prem.
Also,we should not forget Alan Smith. He's a Newcastle player.Remember when he was with us for a couple seasons?Featured high in'player of the year'polls.Player of the year?Really?Could never figure that one out?
Remember when Keano left & Fergie (realising that AS was s***e as a striker)declared 'He could be just what we are looking for in midfield.'Oh dear.Don't think so Sir Alex. That guy(& I know this is a debate for another website)typifies what is wrong with English football.A plodder. An expensive plodder nonetheless.Supposedly on £45k a week at United.£45k a week for this geezer! Can you believe that?Leaves to go to Newcastle for...guess what?More! But of course, these guys,no matter whattheir(in this case very) limited abilities ALWAYS want more
