Manchester United sweep aside the Hammers....

Two more !

Manchester United moved to within a point of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 win over a punchless West Ham United on Tuesday evening. Wayne Rooney continued his devastating run of form with the opening two goals, before substitute Michael Owen capped a fine night for United with the third.
The deadlock was broken seven minutes before the interval as Rooney nodded home a cross from Antonio Valencia. From there, the result never looked in doubt.

Rooney doubled his tally shortly after the interval with another headed goal. The England forward continues to terrorise defences and he was on hand to direct home another Valencia cross on 55 minutes.

The third and final goal came with ten minutes remaining. Owen's England chances hardly look bright at present, but he bagged a morale boosting strike as he turned home an assist from Paul Scholes.

United sit one point behind Chelsea and attentions can now turn to the League Cup. The Red Army will journey to Wembley this weekend as United prepare to do battle with London foes Spurs. Expect lots of yellow and green on display!!
