Van der sar ready to sign contract extension

Staying?
By Chris,
February 21 2010
Goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is expected to sign a contract extension. The 39-year-old's current deal expires at the end of the season - but the towering Dutch stopper is in talks with Sir Alex Ferguson about signing on at Old Trafford for a further twelve months.

The veteran stopper continues to shirk off his rivals to hold the number one jersey at United and reports suggest VDS will soon sign a one year contract extension at the Thearte of Dreams.

He said: "I would like to keep on playing so I have decided to sign another contract.

"The club want me to stay and I'm happy here. My fitness is good and I feel I can carry on playing for United."

H
is chances of staying at United have perhaps been strengthened by Ben Foster's worrying dip in form. The English international has even been linked with a move away from the North West after so far struggling to fulfil his potential with United.
