Reports suggest Neville's into final year

Cheerio Captain Nev?
By Chris,
January 7 2010
Gary Neville is reportedly set to hang up his boots at the end of the season, according to The Sun. The full-back's contract is set to expire at the end of the campaign - and speculation suggests that the club will not offer the club captain another year at Old Trafford.

34-year-old Neville has spent the last two seasons struggling with a string of injuries and his form has consequently dipped.

A loyal red, Neville has been a tremendous servant to the football club and made his 583rd appearance for United during the shock 1-0 Cup reverse at the hands of League One leaders Leeds.

Neville made his club debut in front of only 19,998 fans at Old Trafford. United and Torpedo Moscow played out a goalless draw in a first round Uefa Cup tie, with Neville coming off the bench.

The veteran's passion and dedication are a credit to the club. His first-clenching approach - and passionate celebrations against the club's more prominent rivals - provide a breath of fresh air.

However, in truth, Neville's recent performances have been miles away from former glories, and few will be surprised if The Sun's reports are soon confirmed.
