WEM-BER-LEY?
The Red Devils will lock horns with Leeds on Sunday for the first tine since Februay 2004. The Whites left Old Trafford with a 1-1 draw that day - but six years on are some two divisions behind their illustrious rivals.
However, after a prolonged demise, Leeds look to be a club on the up once again. Simon Grayson's men make the trip to Manchester sitting clear at the top of League One, and the club's increasingly optimistic supporters are already eyeing-up a return to the top-flight in the not too distant future.
Leeds are currently eight points clear at the top of the table and have a Football League Trophy Northern Area final to look forward to. Additionally, they travel to Old Trafford without defeat in fifteen matches. The Reds, thus, must be warned against complacency.
Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to wield the changes - but will still field a strong XI for this long overdue War of the Roses. Veterans Paul Scholes and Gary Neville could be involved, whilst goalkeeper Ben Foster may be given a much-needed chance to restore his reputation between the sticks.
In attack, Michael Owen has started only seven games this season and will be anxious to strengthen his own first-team credentials with a starting berth. Meanwhile, the young and hungry Gabriel Obertan looks set to be involved and will relish the chance of turning on the style on the flank.
Leeds will be without the suspended Leigh Bromby, whilst Max Gradel is Cup-tied. They will, however, be confident of springing a huge upset and United must be at their best. An early goal would give the hosts a huge lift and flatten Leeds' momentum - but if the visitors can set their stall out early it could prove an intriguing Cup tie with a memorable atmosphere.
