Zamora was awesome
United, without the likes of Nemanja Vidic and Ryan Giggs, looked more like relegation fodder than a team aiming to seal a fourthsuccessive Premier League title.
The Reds played with no rhythm and Paul Scholes’ sloppinessin midfield proved costly as a clinical Fulham stole the weekend’s sportsheadlines with a fantastic display.
The opener came on 22 minutes. Danny Murphy robbed Scholesof possession and had the freedom to surge forward and drill a low effortbeyond the reach of Tomasz Kuszczak.
Fulham had controlled the opening stages and never lookedback after Murphy’s opener. After the break, Fulham doubled their lead almostimmediately as Damien Duff's cross was nodded down by Clint Dempsey and Englandhopeful Bobby Zamora laced home a powerful drive from close range.
United had no response and the hosts rapped up a memorablewin with a stunning strike on 75 minutes. Zamorafound Duff and the Irishman drilled a powerful effort home to send the CravenCottage regulars into raptures.
The Cottagers surged forward looking for a fourth at the end– with the hugely impressive Zamoralooking most likely to add to Fulham’s fortunes. Howard Webb eventually broughtthe curtain down on a dismal day for the Champions.
Chelsea will nowlook to win at London rivals WestHam on Sunday to open up a six-point lead at the top of the festive tree.
