By Chris, December 16 2009 Manchester United bounced back from Saturday’s disappointment with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over much-changed Wolves on Tuesday evening. A Wayne Rooney penalty and goals from Nemanja Vidic and Antonio Valencia helped the Reds go level on points with table-topping Chelsea.
United weren't at their free-flowing best on Tuesday buteased to victory as Wolves boss Mick McCarthy unbelievably made ten changes tohis starting line-up.
The Midlands outfit claimed a shockwin at Spurs at the weekend. However, McCarthy seemed prepared to accept amidweek defeat at Old Trafford rather than risk his best players. GoalkeeperMarcus Hahnemann was the only survivor from the XI that won in North London as Wolves fielded a second-string.
Wolves lacked ambition and seemed content to defend. Theybattled well for half-an-hour before a spot-kick handed United the initiative. RonaldZumar handled Darron Gibson's corner and Rooney made no mistake from twelveyards.
United doubled their advantage before the break. NemanjaVidic rose to nod home another Gibson corner and the game looked dead andburied before the half-time whistle was blown.
The Reds made sure Fergie's 900th Premier League game endedin victory with 24 minutes remaining. Some trademark trickery from DimitarBerbatov sent Valenciafree and the winger drilled home a half-volley to cap an easy night for theChampions.
Chelsea willlook to re-open a three point lead at the top of the table as they host Pompeyon Wednesday. Next up for United is a weekend trip to Fulham where a muchharder test is in prospect.

weakened is a bit of an understatement, eh? nice when some of the other teams in your league play their reserves/youth team. but then again, not everyone you play thinks it's their "cup final"!
Leeds, Always.
Oh Gary Gary! Gary Gary Gary Gary Gary Speed!
simply the best fans in the world! WE ARE SO PROUD!
He was alright Hatter, didn't do much tbh. Lots of stepover without really going anywhere. I think people are overhyping him at the moment. He has ability but he can be lazy and his fitness doesn't seem to be the best.
Gibbo was probably the best player and Scholesy controlled the game again. Valencia was always a threat and is really looking at home now. Berba and Rooney where both disappointing and I really can't understand why Owen isn't in the team. What more does he need to do?!?!
Owens probably on about $1m a goal so its cheaper not to play him. Fergie probably expected hin to be injured most of the season when he signed the pay as you play/score deal.
I doubt he would have expected him to be injured because what would have been the point in signing him?? Who cares how much it is costing us if he is scoring goals. His wages plus his bonuses still probably equate to less than Berba's wages.
xaxa you put so much pressure on Berba... How can you expect from him to play well while everybody are against him ?!? you are man utd fans... support him !
