Fergie slapped with touchline ban and 20k fine

Ban and fine
By Chris,

Sir Alex Ferguson has been slapped with a two-game touchline ban and a £20,000 fine following comments made about referee Alan Wiley. The Scotsman questioned the official's fitness after watching his side draw 2-2 at Old Trafford in October.

Ferguson pleased guilty to charges of improper conduct but requested a personal hearing after questioning Wiley's fitness.

After a 2-2 draw with the Black Cats, Fergie said: "The pace of the game demanded a referee who was fit. He was not fit."

The 67-year-old has subsequently been hit by a hefty F.A fine and handed a four-match ban, though two of those games are suspended until the 2010/2011 season.

Fergie's two-game ban will come into immediate effect - meaning he must watch United's clash with Everton and trip to Portsmouth from the stands.

The two-game suspended ban will be put in place should Sir Alex be found guilty of any similar offences before the end of the 2010/2011 campaign.
