United kick-off against newly-promoted duo

Brum for starters

Manchester United kick-off the defence of their Premier League title by facing two of the newly-promoted clubs. The Red Devils entertain Birmingham City on August 15th and then tavel to Lancashire rivals Burnley three days later. Those games are followed with another Lancashire derby against Wigan Athletic.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be desperate for his side to string some early wins together after the fixtures paired his side with two of the newly-promoted clubs in the opening two games of the season; before the Reds travel to Wigan's DW Stadium.

United follow up those games with the visit of Arsenal before facing their North London rivals Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Arch-rivals Liverpool visit Old Trafford on March 20th with the clash at Anfield taking place on October 24th. Meanwhile, the two Manchester derbies take place on the 19th of September (home) and the 17th of April (away).

The Red Devils have a relatively kind run-in with their final three matches at home to Spurs, away to Sunderland and at home to Stoke City.

What a plonker, eh? Sorry chaps. It's City that have Wolves on the third game of the season. United do indeed have Wigan.
Fixture list does seem to have been kind.
