United linked with shock swoop for Fernando Torres

Torres

Manchester United have been linked with a shock £45million move for Fernando Torres. The news will horrify the Red-side of Scouseland with speculation claiming that Sir Alex Ferguson could take advantage of Liverpool’s reportedly precarious financial state to sign the prolific Spanish frontman.

This will surely turn out to be mere speculation - but it's an incredible rumour.

With Cristiano Ronaldo on his way to Real Madrid for £80million, United have money to spend on the transfer market and are being linked with a host of the game's biggest names.

The latest press reports suggest that Torres could be on his way to Old Trafford in an unbelievable £45million move.

Torres - adored by the Anfield masses - has bagged fifty Liverpool goals since his £26,500,000 move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2007. He's become the target of an increasingly popular Stretford End ditty and is currently tearing it up at the Confederations Cup as he bagged a hat-trick in Spain's 5-0 demolition of New Zealand.

With Carlos Tevez also close to an Old Trafford exit, the club are clearly in the market for a new frontman but a swoop for Torres would be astounding to say the least!

I dont know what would make me laugh more, signing Torres or watching him rot at Liverpool going season after season trophyless. I hear they're about to launch a £45m bid for the legendary Glen Johnson who is so good that he's played for 5 different clubs in 8 years. Sharing is caring as they say.(Sm22)

^ The £45m comment was tongue in cheek which was obvious afer i called him "legendary", who'd pay £17m for an overrated hack who has been a journeyman his entire career? Thats right, Liverpool would. Oh well, that one flew over your head.

Is he going to be your big summer signing, or is that one reserved for a re-signing of Emile Heskey? Maybe Robbie Keane? Nope went down that road recently.

As for getting me to name the starting 11 for next season, a bit hard dont you think this far out from the season? How silly of you.

The only reason I clicked on this article was to see what the comments were.

You should be ashamed for even putting this utter BS in writing.

Even if Man u offer 80 Million pounds, Liverpool would not except. They would have to bring in the likes of Messi to replace Torres.
