United are on the verge of signing Brazilian youngster Jose Rodolfo Pires Ribeiro Dodo for a fee in the region of £5million. The 17-year-old holds a European Community passport courtesy of his Portuguese background which makes the signing considerably easier for Old Trafford officials.

Dodo currently plays for Brazilian giants Corinthians but is yet to make his competitive debut for the club.

However, United's scouting team in South America have been very, very impressed by the youngster's potential and acted quickly to snap him up.

The teenager, clearly both nervous and excited about the move, is hopeful that the presence of three other Brazilians at the club will help him integrate more easily into Lancashire life.

"As there are already some Brazilians in England, I suppose that I am going to get adapted easier." he said

"I have never played with the Fabio and Rafael, neither with Anderson, but it's good for me to have them near. Even Cristiano Ronaldo as he speaks in Portuguese.

"I returned from being on duty with the U17 national team and only had time to be with my parents for a few hours. I received the instructions to travel to England.

"Every player dreams to play in the national team and then be transferred to a European team. I am doing that.

"Next year I will join the first team of Manchester United. I am going to play next to the best players of the world."

Reports suggest that Dodo will make regular trips to Manchester to settle in the area and train with his new team-mates; but will remain at Corinthians on a loan basis until February 2010 when his move to United will be made permanent.

Whats the point if he's only coming in 2010. I know he will still be young(19), but the sooner he gets exposure to the game in england the better.

Because we aren't allowed to sign Brazilian players under the age of 18.

We had the same situation with Rafael and Fabio: they signed for United in 2007 but didn't officially join up with the squad for a year.

Same thing is also happening to Ljajic now - he is a Manchester United player, but until he turns 18 he remains on loan at Partizan.
