Staying for free?
Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign Carlos Tevez on a free transfer. Tabloid newspaper 'The Sun' claims that the Red Devils are seeking legal loopholes in Tevez's contract with his third-party owners Media Sports Investments. The Argentinean frontman is currently coming to the end of a two-year loan deal at Old Trafford." />
Speculation suggests that a number of sports lawyers are investigating whether Tevez could free himself from his contract with the MSI group.
MSI currently own Tevez's playing rights. His two-year loan agreement at United expires at the end of the current season and United are allegedly hopeful that Tevez could ditch any ties with MSI in a similar way to the ruling that allows footballers to become free agents under the Bosman ruling.
Tevez is desperate to stay at United but the club are reluctant to splash out another £22million on his services - having already paid a small fortune to MSI for the current loan agreement and to the player in wages.
With Tevez's future uncertain, a host of other Premier League clubs - including arch-rivals Liverpool and Manchester City - have been linked with the South American's services.
