Derby struggling to sell-out for United clash

Set to be unveiled

Derby County are struggling to sell-out for Wednesday evening's League Cup semi-final, first-leg against Manchester United. With only hours to go until the kick-off, the Rams have released a statement on their official web-site reminding supporters that tickets are on general sale and can be purchased online, at the ground or by telephone.

Pride Park holds 33,597 fans - and may not be full for this evening's encounter with Manchester United.

Despite their disappointing league form, the Rams have the highest gates in the Championship and, this season, have thus far averaged 28,725.

With the Midlands club just one round from Wembley, and new manager Nigel Clough set to be unveiled to the fans, you'd be forgiven for expecting a full house on Wednesday night. However, a statement on the DCFC web-site read:

"Tickets for the Carling Cup semi-final first leg against Manchester United remain on general sale to Derby County supporters.

"
The ticket office will remain open right up until the 7.45pm kick-off but supporters are urged to make sure they buy their tickets early to avoid any late queues."

The last time United played at Pride Park, a packed house saw Cristiano Ronaldo score the only goal of the game as the Red Devils claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win last March.
