Club slam reports of Mourinho approach

Coming to OT?!
By Chris,

Manchester United have slammed tabloid reports that the club have targeted Jose Mourinho as the man to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson. Speculation claimed that "preliminary talks" were underway with the Inter Milan boss who has made no secret of his desire to manage in the Premier League once again. However, United have distanced themselves from the rumours.

Ferguson's retirement plans have been subject to much debate in recent years. The Scotsman has recently confirmed that he doesn't plan to manage beyond the age of seventy - though that still means the 66-year-old Fergie could well stay at the club until the end of the 2010/2011 campaign.

A host of names have already been linked with the United hotseat after Sir Alex steps down. Bookmakers have been taking bets on it for years now - with Mark Hughes, Martin O'Neill, Roy Keane, Carlos Querioz and Guus Hiddink often named amongst the favourites.

This week's tabloid newspaper reports, however, claim that United have already opened up talks with "The Special One" despite the fact that Ferguson could spend nearly three more years at Old Trafford.

However, a club spokesman has been quick to hit out reports that the club have approached Mourinho, saying: "As we have said many times before, there has been no discussion about who will eventually succeed Sir Alex,"

Fergie has been in charge of United for a whopping 1,224 matches - nearly one hundred more than Sir Matt Busby. He's also won more trophies than any other manager in the history of English football. He's a legend and it's difficult to remember MUFC without him. Let's not think about him leaving just yet.....!

Who would want him as our next manager?

He was a d.ick when he was with Porto when they played us in the CL but he was always good value for a laugh at Chelsea. He is a winner and would bring us success. His teams don't play the best football which is something we aren't used to and don't really accept.

Its hard to forget the past but if Fergie gave him his blessing would we welcome him?

Nopes. Boring. Look at Inter now (Sm45)(Sm119)
In fairness it might have something to do with the sluggish nature of the players he has inherited but still wouldnt want him. Hopefully in 2 years or so we'd have discovered the solution to age reversal...

Can't see why he would go to United, its made there - he would benefit more from building a nearly there team up .

Also the rivalry he previously had with chelsea/Manchester united would put someone off for life!
