Red Rebels pick up first NPL win at Buxton

1-0 Winners
By Chris, August 25 2008
FC United of Manchester picked up their first win in the Northern Premier League with a 1-0 victory at Buxton. Jamie Baguley was on target for the visitors in front of 2,090 supporters. The result lifts Karl Marginson's men to ninth in the table as they target an unlikely fourth consecutive promotion and a place in the Conference North.

Segregation was in place at Buxton's Silverlands for the first time as a large, buoyant and vocal FC following saw the Red Rebels pick up their first ever win in the NPL.

In a game of few clear-cut chances, Baguley settled the contest on 64 minutes with a fine finish - capping an impressive performance from FCUM.

Next up for FC is the eagerly anticipated clash with Boston United at Gigg Lane on Bank Holiday Monday. The Lincolnshire club played Bury FC at the stadium in League Two action just two seasons ago but, following a series of on and off field problems, they've slumped down the pyramid.
