75 minutes,
Neville again looked a little rusty as he continues his fight-back from injury. He was in action against Portsmouth in the Community Shield but was left out of Sunday's Premier League encounter against the Barcodes.
The game, the first of a two-leg friendly affair between the two sides, was a hard-fought affair. Solskjaer named a strong side with Ben Foster, Darron Gibson and the Da Silva twins joining Neville in the starting line-up.
Drinkwater's strike came on 59 minutes. He was quick to react as Macheda's shot was blocked by Chelsea defender Jack Cork and the striker was on hand to calmly bring the ball down and slot home the rebound. It proved to be the only goal of the game.
The result was a little harsh on the visitors who dominated possession for long periods. They'll be confident of overturning the one-goal deficit as the two clubs battle out the second leg of this intriguing friendly encounter at the Chelsea Training Ground in Cobham next Tuesday.
This narrow victory maintains Solskjaer's unbeaten record as manager of the reserves. He's led the Reds to Lancashire Senior Cup success over the Scousers - and secured friendly wins against Burscough, Altrincham, Northwich Victoria and Chelsea plus a draw at Oxford.
