FC edged out at Cammell Laird

Slow start for FCUM

The battle that FC United of Manchester face in the Northern Premier League became a little clearer on Tuesday evening. The Red Rebels sunk to a 2-1 defeat at Cammell Laird despite taking a twentieth-minute lead. The result leaves Karl Marginson’s men with just a single point from their opening two NPL encounters.

Kyle Wilson gave the visitors the lead on twenty minutes, but Laird battled back with a quick-fire double before the interval.

Neil Black quickly restored parity and put the home side ahead eight minutes before half-time. Poor defending was to blame - and despite plenty of pressure, FCUM couldn't find the equaliser after the break.

The Rebels will be keen to secure their first win of the season on Saturday as they travel to Silverlands to face Buxton FC.
