Keegan's Toon to crown United champions?

Geordies v. Chelski
By Chris, May 5 2008
Newcastle United entertain Chelsea on Bank Holiday Monday – and Kevin Keegan could do his old foe Sir Alex Ferguson a massive favour if his team pick up any points. A home win would effectively hand the Red Devils a seventeenth league championship, whilst a draw would mean United just need a point on the final day of the season thanks to our vastly superior goal difference.

United currently lead the table by three points following Saturday's superb 4-1 win over West Ham. The Reds also boast a significantly stronger goal difference than Chelsea - meaning the big-spending Londoners must effectively concede the title race if they lose at St.James' Park.

Many United fans would love to see Keegan secure another league title for the Old Trafford trophy room. The media would happily dig out old footage from the late 1990s where he and Ferguson enjoyed a very public feud which eventually saw King Kev crack under the pressure.

The destiny of the title is still very much in United's hands. A win over Wigan, thanks to that goal difference, will be enough for the Red Devils. Chelsea have it all to do - and that starts on Tyneside at 4pm this Monday afternoon.
