Carrick & Brown also pen new deals

Red Devils
By Chris, April 18 2008
Wesley Brown and Michael Carrick have followed in Rio Ferdinand's footsteps by signing new contracts with United. The three players have committed their long-term futures to the club. The news comes as a timely boost to the club ahead of Saturday's crucial Lancastrian derby away at Blackburn Rovers.

Ferdinand's deal will span for five-years, with the defender now paid a staggering £130,000-per-week. It's ridiculous.

Details of Brown and Carrick's new deals are yet to be announced - but it is thought that both players have committed at least a further three years to the famous red jersey.

"They have agreed new deals," said Sir Alex Ferguson.

"It continues our policy of lengthening contracts at the right time. The strong squad we have built has aided us this season and this latest bit of business is definitely good news."

Meanwhile, speculation is already under-way regarding squad strengthening for the summer. Fergie is rumoured to be in the market for new talent at the back and in attack.
