As Cristiano Ronaldo’s superb goalscoring form continues, a new chant is taking Old Trafford by storm. We’ve been inundated with e-mails from Salford to Singapore asking for the lyrics to the new ‘Viva Ronaldo’ chant. They’re not exactly complicated, but never a site to disappoint our fans, here we have the words and a little history behind the club’s newest anthem.

“Viva Ronaldo,
Viva Ronaldo,
Running down the wing,
Hear United sing,
Viva Ronaldo” 

It’s not surprising to hear a new Ronaldo chant to go alongside the “He plays on the left, he plays on the right” ditty which has been popular since the 2006 World Cup. 

More travelled United fans may have heard this song emerge a couple of years ago with slightly different lyrics. Fans used to see “We’ve got Ronaldo” instead of the Viva lyric – but the chant hasn’t really caught on until recently. 

Meanwhile, with a certain Brazilian striker out-of-favour and now injured at AC Milan, the “only one Ronaldo” chant which greeted our top scorer’s arrival at United has hit the backburner!
