Ronaldo scored another brace of goals as United beat Reading 3-2 but it could have been seven or eight! The visitors late consolation goal flattered them and with Chelski only drawing the Red Devils are now six points clear! Happy New Year!

Sir Alex Ferguson, who is 65 on New Year's Eve, watched his United team enjoy a good afternoon as fans favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put the home side ahead from a Cristiano Ronaldo cross. Ibrahima Sonko headed Reading level from Nicky Shorey's free-kick. Ronaldo restored United's advantage after Solskjaer hit the post and he volleyed in his second to make it 3-1. Leroy Lita pulled one back for Reading.
