Fearns Linked With Hull |
| Speculation has began over the future of prolific striker Terry Fearns. His contract is due to expire at the end of the season and Doncaster Rovers and York City have both expressed interest in the former Wigan striker.
The main party for the labourers' signature though are Hull City. The Motormen had a 10 day spell without a fixture and that was when Peter Taylor took the striker on trial. He started for Hull Reserves against Stoke City Reserves and he rose to the occassion and impressed the former England manager by scoring a brace in a fine 2-1 victory. Peter Taylor is said to have been a big fan of Fearns, and whilst on trial he shown that he would relish to play in the football league. It is really no big surprise that teams from the professional ranks see the 26 year old as a target. His goalscoring is fantastic at UniBond level, scoring 38 goals in his first season at Rivacre Park. The next year proved just as good as he netted 36 times and so far this season he 28 goals to his name. The Vauxhall number nine has scored a magnificent 7 hat-tricks for The Motormen including a hat-trick on his debut against Worksop Town and smashing five goals past Blyth Spartans back in Spetember 03. He has also hit a century of goals in 136 starts. The 100th goal came at Frickley Athletic when he ended Vauxhall's jynx of never winning at Westfield Lane. Fearns will go down as a Vauxhall great. He also played his part in the historic cup run which saw him win an accolade od admirers. The Vauxhall front man looks set to follow Matt Haddrell and Greg Blundell who both moved into the professional ranks. |
